Non Non Weather, is a slice of life and a comedy anime that I would easily recommend to both young and older viewers. From the very first episode on to the end of season two, viewer’s interest remains captivated and soothed through the portrayal of pristine environments, thoroughly enjoyable and quirky adventures of its characters, and a calming soundtrack. There is much charm to the serene and slowly paced storyline, which is dynamically complemented by the incremented character development of a whimsical cast. Thus, if you wish to relax, laugh, and enjoy life; I couldn’t recommend this anime enough. Story 8/10The story is fitting of the SOL genre, and has high rewatch value. Twenty minute-long episodes are segmented such that each new day in the countryside village of Asahigaoka is presented along with its quirky laughs, disputes and unique adventures. Art 10/10Much attention and care has been invested into the artwork. This is witnessed through the impressive background scenery. As examples, viewers are presented with a view of rocks within a stream of running water, the gentle sway amongst fields of grass in the wind, as well as a buzzing reminder as to surrounding insect life. The smooth and perfect visual integration of movement or processes within nature such as these, all serve to bring the scenes and its interrelated components towards a nearer degree of reality. Sound 10/10The songs utilized for the opening by and ending by ZAQ, are fitting to the anime’s theme and exceptional recordings that are well worth checking out. The original soundtrack is even more impressive, where the composer Hiromi Mizutani strikes dissonant notes at seemingly perfect times, dualistically capturing the essence of nature and its fragility through the simple and off key sounding of a child’s recorder aka Renchon’s melody. Also too, I now acknowledge the excellent use of silence in many situations within this anime; I can ascertain that it has served as most effective in enhancing viewer’s such as myself emotional perceptibility and relatedness towards the characters during concurrent situations. Characters 8/10The cast is rather simplistic, but individually they are also quirky and unique; each in their own ways. This is further conducive towards enabling many comedic moments all throughout the anime. In addition, a case can be made in regards to the prevalence of a shōjo atmosphere, this is because almost all characters are female, and the few males are rendered insignificant to the point that it is funny. Enjoyment 10/10As the story revolves around charming, and adorable girls, this means that inciting incidents mainly involve goofing around, dodging chores, and having fun in any which way possible. Then, from this I conclude that the degree of enjoyment derived from this anime lies in the beholder; in other words, that it depend’s on viewer’s preference or their appreciation for simplistic themes such as innocence and play. Overall 9/10Thank you for reading,I hope you enjoy~ I'm not really sure why this show is so good, as it has a very basic concept and in theory sounds kind of boring. But make no mistake, this is a beautiful, laugh-out-loud anime. Non Non Biyori is the kind of anime that you watch after a bad day and it instantly calms you down. There's zero drama, romance unless you count Haruno's crush on Koma-chan or violence, and the plot relies almost completely on character interactions. Story 8/10 I thought that Non Non Biyori's almost complete lack of a plot would be a huge turn off for me. However, the story flows beautifully and works very well in the seting. The only negative is that the pacing is very slow, and while that usually works well, it can at times feel stilted. Animation 10/10 The animation is absolutely gorgeous. The character designs are very unique and each character is rendered beautifully. The backrounds are also stunning. As it's set in the Japanese countryside, there's a lot of beautiful nature and animals. Sound 10/10 The music always fits the tone of the story and is very pretty. Renge's tune with the recorder is absolutely delightful and is still stuck in my head. The voice cast is also very talented, and each actor really embodies the personality of their character. Characters 10/10 As the show doesn't have much of an overarching plot, the characters are the most important part of this anime. And they're wonderful. I love every single main character, from the mature Haruna, to Komari who wishes she was more mature, to the carefree Natsumi, and especially the adorable Renge! Seriously, Renge is the best character ever; if all the other characters sucked which they don't I would still give them a 10/10 because Renge is so awesome. Overall This is a beautifull anime that's very calm and relaxing. If you're into action and drama and romance, then this anime probably isn't for you. That being said, I love action and adventure anime, so you really don't have any excuse. Anyways, watch this, you won't be sorry. While I seem to have a new favorite anime series every week, the one that has stayed in the top 3 of my favorite anime of all time the longest is the slice of life series Non Non Biyori. After all, with gorgeous artwork and animation, utterly adorable characters don’t you just want to take Renge home and spoil her?, a gorgeous soundtrack and it being one of the most relaxed and relaxing slice of life anime you will ever watch, if you have not seen every second of what has been released in the Non Non Biyori franchise yet, you really should get started. In fact I love Non Non Biyori so much, it was the first anime series I ever bought on DVD and the one I have re-watched the most since. Of course, although watching Non Non Biyori in order is easier to figure out than many other anime series, some people do still mix each release up and end up watching the movie before an OVA, or an OVA before the next series. So, if you have not yet watched everything that has been released in the series, and you want to watch all of Non Non Biyori the way it was meant to be watched, make sure you see every episode in order as listed below. The adorable Renge in the first season of Non Non Biyori Non Non Biyori Season 1 The first season of Non Non Biyori introduces country girls Renge, Natsumi, Komari, Kaede and newcomer to the village Hotaru. We also meet the girls’ families, and are introduced to the one-room school house where all five of them and Natsumi and Komari’s elder brother Suguru are the only students. Hikage and Renge’s older sister Kazuho is the school’s only teacher. The series itself allows us to watch the daily lives of the Non Non Biyori girls, who are living what many of us would think is an idyllic childhood, somewhere out in the sleepy Japanese countryside miles from a major town. Non Non Biyori Okinawa e Ikukoto ni Natta OVA The Season 1 OVA came bundled with the manga volume but, if you didn’t get a chance to see it, it is available in a number of places online — including KissAnime, if you’re into that kind of thing. Komari and Natsumi’s brother Suguru wins the big prize in a shopping mall lottery. A trip for four to the island of Okinawa. The OVA is the pre-cursor for the Non Non Biyori Vacation movie. Non Non Biyori Vacation Movie While some people watch this after Season 2, it made no sense to me to do that when it leads right on from the Season 1 OVA with the girls on a plane heading to Okinawa. That’s why I watch it in this order. The five girls and Suguru head off to Okinawa for their three-day holiday. Renge’s elder sister and Kazuho’s younger sister Hikage go with them, as does local high school student Konomi, and Candy Store, the woman who owns the village sweet shop. The group stays at a beautiful independent hotel where they meet Aoi, the daughter of the owners. Fun and games at school in Non Non Biyori Repeat Non Non Biyori Repeat Season 2 Otherwise known as Season 2 of the anime series, in a re-telling of the stories of the first season, but from a different angle, Non Non Biyori Repeat kicks off with Renge starting first-grade and Hotaru and her parents moving to the tiny Japanese village. Renge, Non Non Biyori Repeats first-grader Of course, Renge is in the same one-room school house with the other girls but, for Renge, the entrance ceremony is the start of her new life. As for Hotaru, she has not lived in such a small place before and so is worried that, when she starts her new school, she may not be able to make friends. Non Non Biyori Repeat Hotaru ga Tanoshinda OVA aka Hotaru has fun In this lovely mellow OVA, we get to see what village life is truly like if you are young, have an active imagination and are trying to amuse yourself in a place that does not have the modern things many Japanese girls take for granted — something the girls manage to easily do no matter what the season. Hotaru bakes cookies with Candy Store, Natsumi, Renge and Hotaru try to give Komari nice dreams and the girls hunt for wild berries. Non Non Biyori Season 3 A third season was announced in May, 2019 with the premiere date finally being announced a year later as January, 2021 — well, that and an adorable promo video reminding us what we have already watched in previous seasons. You can watch that video below and, of course, watch the first two seasons of Non Non Biyori on Crunchyroll. Season 3 will also be streaming there beginning on January 11th, 2021 with the first of 12 episodes. Two new characters Akane Shinoda and Shiori will be joining our favorite girls.
