Mas ele consegue isso? Passei duas semanas com um deles para tentar descobrir. Design e acabamento Duas coisas que a Samsung focou ao desenhar o Série 9 espessura e leveza. O material usado para revestir o notebook é chamado duralumínio, que parece tão autêntico quanto adamantium, mas na verdade apenas o segundo é um item de ficção. O duralumínio é uma liga de metal que consegue ser ao mesmo tempo leve e resistente e tem como bônus a habilidade de servir como ótimo imã de marcas de dedo. Além disso, essa é a mesma liga usada em certos aviões, segundo a Samsung. E isso me leva à forma escolhida para o notebook a fabricante diz que ela é bem aerodinâmica, mas não vejo esse aspecto sendo útil a menos que você goste de trabalhar preenchendo planilhas durante uma queda livre de quatro mil metros de altura. Sim, ele tem o formato de uma asa, mas isso não quer dizer que ele vai entrar numa mochila mais facilmente do que qualquer outro notebook ultra-fino. E ele cumpre isso ao menos em termos de design, com seu formato compacto e pouco peso são só 1,36 kg sem sombra de dúvidas. Eu diria até que ele cabe muito bem dentro de um envelope pardo, mas isso enfureceria alguns fãs da gigante da maçã. Tela e gráficos Eu já não esperava muito dos gráficos do Série 9, já que ele conta apenas com uma chip gráfico Intel HD 3000. Fiquei um pouco surpreso, no entanto, ao perceber que ele é bom o suficiente para jogar games em resolução mediana, como Team Fortress 2, e navegar na web sem ter de se preocupar a grande necessidade de processamento de páginas e vídeos em Flash. Assistir vídeos em alta definição, dependendo do tamanho, pode não ser uma das experiências mais suaves. A escolha de chip gráfico não consegue fazer jus ao material escolhido para a tela. No Série 9, a Samsung incluiu sua tecnologia para telas de LED chamada SuperBright Plus, que é capaz de até 400 nits de luminosidade. Ela é boa o bastante para tarefas rotineiras, como editar planilhas em queda livre e navegar na web. Mas foi um pouco além disso ao ser testada contra o Sol mesmo com o reflexo da luz solar, a tela continuou bastante visível. Touchpad e Teclado Outro aspecto que faz o Série 9 ficar ainda mais com cara de MacBook Air foi o fato da Samsung ter escolhido incluir os botões de clique do mouse direto no touchpad, algo que a Apple faz nos seus computadores portáteis há algum tempo. Além disso o touchpad também tem funções multitoque como o movimento de pinça para zoom e rolagem com dois dedos, dentre dezenas de outros facilmente configuráveis. Inicialmente demorei para acostumar com a ausência dos botões e não usei muito as funcionalidades multi-toque dele. Mas depois que você pega o jeito e passa a rápida curva de aprendizado, esses gestos se tornam naturais e você fica tão produtivo quanto se tivesse usando um mouse. Eu ainda achei melhor usar o dito periférico para jogos, mas o touchpad substitui todas as demais funções dele com facilidade. Teclado retroiluminado é uma das ideias brilhantes do Série 9 Clique para ampliar O teclado do Série 9 é retroiluminado e assim como a tela também tem seu nível de luminosidade ajustado de acordo com o sensor do Série 9. Infelizmente, assim como uma pessoa do sexo feminino durante a época da TPM, esse sensor pode ser sensível demais às vezes. Uma simples sombra causada pela movimentação da minha mão sobre o teclado era o suficiente para fazer a tela escurecer ou clarear. Obviamente existe a opção de gerenciar manualmente o brilho, mas isso conflita com o modo de economia de bateria. As teclas de função na primeira fileira também servem como atalhos para funções do notebook como o controle de brilho e volume, a ativação ou desativação da placa de rede WiFi, do modo de economia de energia, de monitor extra e do touchpad. Nessa fileira também está a tecla de função que abre a central de controle, que centraliza todas as opções de ativação ou desativação de características em um só programa. Como um todo, posso dizer que o teclado do Série 9 é facilmente um dos melhores que já usei em um notebook. Teclas macias e bem espaçadas fizeram a quantidade de erros de digitação serem bem pequenos. Mas isso qualquer fabricante de notebook já notou atualmente. É no escuro que o teclado do Série 9 realmente brilha, se me permitem o trocadilho. SSD e leitor externo Um dos fatores que deixa o Série 9 bem rápido e um pouco caro também é o fato dele usar uma unidade SSD como armazenamento, com capacidade de 128 GB. Graças à ela o notebook consegue ser inicializado em apenas 3 segundos, desde que tenha sido colocado em hibernação antes. Além disso, todo o funcionamento do sistema e dos programas recebe uma melhoria perceptível, ficando mais rápidos e tomando menos tempo para executar certas funções. O SSD pode ser bem rápido mas ainda assim, depois de um tempo, notei uma certa lentidão ao logar no Windows. Saindo da hibernação o tempo aumentou para 4 ou 5 segundos, algo que não incomodou muito, mas o tempo de inicialização do zero ficou notoriamente maior também. No início achei que seriam as constantes atualizações da Microsoft, mas percebi que havia ocupado pouco mais de 70% do espaço disponível. E SSDs podem perder um pouco de performance assim. Já o leitor externo funciona… como um leitor externo deveria. Ele permite gravação e leitura de CDs e DVDs ao ser conectado em uma das portas USB laterais. Só não gostei muito da posição em que ele acaba ficando, perpendicular ao notebook. Você pode até virar e colocá-lo de frente, mas o cabo vai ficar contorcido. Bateria Se no aspecto de design a Samsung conseguiu imitar bastante a Apple, em bateria ela deixou a expectativa um pouco aquém do esperado. Supostamente o Série 9 teria até horas de vida de bateria, algo que é relativamente comparável com os notebooks finos da Apple e suas 7 horas. Mas nos testes que fiz esse tempo nunca passou de 6 horas, com o modo de economia de energia gerenciando tudo. Em testes com a tela na metade de brilho e com WiFi ligado, cheguei a conseguir tirar pouco menos de 5 horas de vida de bateria, o que não é lá de todo mal. E considerando o que o Série 9 entrega em termos de hardware, esse tempo é bastante aceitável. Para quem quer usá-lo para tarefas rápidas num aeroporto ou assistir um filme, ele não deve decepcionar. Já quem pretende realizar tarefas mais pesadas como processamento de vídeo, jogos intensos ou vai abusar das opções de conectividade com o Série 9, é bom procurar uma tomada pouco antes de se passarem 3 horas e 40 minutos de vida de bateria. Esse foi o tempo médio que ele levou para descarregar com o brilho de tela no máximo, WiFi e Bluetooth ligado e playback de DVD pelo leitor externo. Incluído no Série 9 está uma webcam de megapixel, que passa na frente das demais webcams VGA por ter capacidade de capturar vídeo em alta definição, perfeita para programas como Skype, por exemplo. Pode ser pouca resolução para foto estática, mas é melhor do que melhores a maioria dos notebooks oferecem hoje em dia. Fotos estáticas, aliás, não são o ponto forte da câmera. Nas suas laterais estão os conectores para as mais variadas portas. No lado direito estão uma porta USB, o conector de fone de ouvido e microfone e um leitor de cartão de memória microSD. Do lado esquerdo estão uma saída Gigabit Ethernet, outra porta USB, e a saída mini-HDMI. As portas USB, aliás, fornecem energia mesmo com o computador hibernando, o que é um extra interessante para quem quer apenas carregar um iPod ou iPhone sem precisar ligar o computador. Ainda nas laterais estão quase que escondidas os auto-falantes do notebook. Eles foram razoáveis para playback de músicas e de um DVD, mas não espere muita qualidade para músicas mais graves. Ter uma coleção de adaptadores grudados no notebook não é exatamente uma das melhores maneiras de usá-lo, mas é interessante que a Samsung ofereça itens como o adaptador Ethernet e o gravador de DVDs externo já incluídos no preço. Só não sabemos ainda se a empresa planeja vender esses itens separados, para caso de perda ou dano. Eu vou dar o benefício da dúvida e chutar que sim.
